It’s been a while since I last posted an update here, and I have some news. About three months ago, I decided to quit the Leif de Leeuw band. What I wanted in terms of the musical direction we were going, was different than what the band wants. So, that’s why.

In the meantime, we also started a new cover band, Cantaloop. It is in fact the Happy Bees musicians, plus two new people: Bart Roossink, who we met last summer in France, on electric guitar, and Laura Douma, who I played with in Backyard a couple years ago, on vocals. There are some interesting shows coming up!
The first one is on October 22nd, in ‘de Kelder’, Amersfoort. The Leif de Leeuw band will open for Jan Akkerman, a world famous guitarist, who played in Focus and Brainbox. In 1973 Akkerman was chosen ‘Best Guitarist in The World’ by the readers of the UK magazine Melody Maker.

The second one is December 1st, in ‘de Boerderij’, Zoetermeer. We will open for Oli Brown, a young blues singer songwriter from the UK. At the 2010 British Blues Awards, he won the awards for ‘Best Male Vocalist’ and ‘Best Young Artist’.
